WORKSHOP CONTENT

  • Chapter 01 – The Nervous System:

In this foundational chapter, we will explore the anatomical organization and components of the nervous system. You will gain a deep understanding of the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as their roles in controlling and coordinating bodily functions.

  • Chapter 02 – Neurons, Glia and Signaling:

Dive into the fundamental building blocks of the nervous system. We will unravel the mysteries of neuronal structure and function, and examine the process of the action potential, the electrochemical signal that enables intercellular communication within the nervous system.

  • Chapter 03 – Chemical Messengers and Communication:

Explore the intricate world of neurotransmitters and their pivotal role in transmitting signals between neurons. Learn how these chemical messengers influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

  • Chapter 04 – Touch and Pain Pathways:

Embark on a journey through the pathways that relay touch and pain sensations from the periphery to the brain. Understand the mechanisms behind these vital sensory experiences and their relevance to our daily lives.

  • Chapter 05 – Brain Imaging:

Delve into the techniques used to visualize the brain’s structure and activity. From molecular imaging -confocal and live- to functional MRI, you will gain insight into the cutting-edge methods that allow us to explore the brain’s secrets.

  • Chapter 06 – Brain Disorders:

Explore the world of brain disorders, from neurodegenerative diseases to psychiatric disorders. Understand the underlying genetic and neuroimmunology basis as well as current neuropharmacological approaches tackling these conditions.

  • Chapter 07 – What’s New in Neuroscience! :

Uncover the groundbreaking research that continues to expand our understanding of the brain. From neural plasticity to cognitive neuroscience, this chapter highlights the exciting avenues of current exploration.

  • Chapter 08 – How to Read Neuroscience Research Papers:

Equip yourself with the skills to navigate and comprehend scientific literature. Learn how to critically analyse research papers and stay up-to-date with the latest findings in neuroscience.

  • Chapter 09 – Activities and Quizzes:

In this disseminated part attendees will engage in group games or mind sport in which they will attempt to answer questions correctly on one or several specific topics, enhancing your ability to share your insights with others.

  • Chapter 10 &11 – Neuroscience Training Opportunities:

Navigate potential paths for pursuing a career or further studies in neuroscience. Explore various training programs, research opportunities, and potential professional trajectories within the field.
